Frosty Struggle

On a cold frosty
Winter night
He sits huddled
With his plight

Of faring the still
More freezing days
Under the broken shed
In this blinding haze

A daunting task
For a man of few means
To keep alive while
Death nearby gleans

The others who
Lay under the stars
Without any wounds
Cuts or scars

Another war he, will
Have to fight
To stay alive to
See next day’s light

Some how or other
He still manages
To stand firm while
Life still rummages

For weaker souls
Who never struggled
Never bore pain
Always wriggled

But he will have
The same struggle tomorrow
To hold back life
When death begins borrow.
