A lone ray

A lone ray from a tiny creak
Trying hard to fight the dark
All its resources at their peak
A pioneer in some alien park

It burns a path of radiant strand
Into the belly of the black room
Dust shining in every band
As they move hit by its broom

Another ray charging in to help
From another crevasse in the wall
To see a muffling of their yelp
In scaling that obstacle tall

With more warriors flooding in
Every nook with blazing beams
Cutting to pieces the darkness’s kin
As the place now magically gleams

The sun now can make a snort
At the shadow’s hasty retreat
From the garrison and the fort
Spurned by a lone ray’s beat
