Alone

I stand alone again
Cut off from others
Who have crowded
Around me in myriads

A single drop which
Looks like every other
But stands out when
Others try to be one

Not deliberate, not intentional
It is something innate
Which has always kept me
Aloof distant and solitary

Neither is it my own wish
For I have often tried to merge
To share the soul, gain the energy
But never have I succeeded

In unifying with others
In new place I gain a newer solitude
I try very hard not be lonely
But something deep down keeps me away

From the mingling crowds
Stopping me from getting washed away
In the sea that’s around me
Something tethers my stance

And so however hard I try I am left
On the shore seeing waves after waves
Leaving satisfied and in company of something
That mattered to them and may not even

But I remain petrified polished and immovable
Like a rock in a sea touched by every wave
Smoothened and pulled by every new gush
Only to leave it alone, solitary and single as it was.

The Mid Lecture Hunt

In midst of another boring lecture

After the first forty or so minutes

When the first head starts drooping

With eyes full of sleep and slumber

Faces start turning around,

In search of the savior

Nods are acknowledged

And hissings are passed on

To the most probable ones

But even after shared glances

And a few passed on messages

The eyes are still looking for

That wink of solidarity

That nod of confirmation

From the person who

Always had earlier come up

With the solution to this

Perpetual mid class exploration

Suddenly someone stoops

And faces light up in hope

Of finally making the catch

After the long non verbal hunt

It appears at last from under

The bench held furtively by

The same hand that has always

Brought the half empty water bottle.

New

New people in
The new places
Make you crave
For the old faces

The alien wind
Its new touch
Has a drab feel
Pinching as such

Making aware
Of the home left
Family and friends
Lost in some theft

This sun too has
A different tinge
Here As I sit
Lonely and cringe

From indulging in
The new ways
Trying to hear
What the past says.

But mincing steps
Have to be made
For what you left
Has to fade

So open up and
Soak the sensations
Indulge in those
Forsaken temptations

Try and live up to
The day at your steps
Grow in stature after
The days at the preps

A lone ray

A lone ray from a tiny creak
Trying hard to fight the dark
All its resources at their peak
A pioneer in some alien park

It burns a path of radiant strand
Into the belly of the black room
Dust shining in every band
As they move hit by its broom

Another ray charging in to help
From another crevasse in the wall
To see a muffling of their yelp
In scaling that obstacle tall

With more warriors flooding in
Every nook with blazing beams
Cutting to pieces the darkness’s kin
As the place now magically gleams

The sun now can make a snort
At the shadow’s hasty retreat
From the garrison and the fort
Spurned by a lone ray’s beat

When did you

When did you last stop to look
At the leaves falling from above,
The gushing water in some brook,
Inviting you to some unknown alcove

Free from the routines and rush
Of a trifling struggle you indulge in.
And stopped your perpetual push
Into the path of the original sin

Seeking what seems the eternity
To the eyes that see nothing else
Other than making that serendipity
In every heart beat and pulse

Blockading all sights and visions
Of a nature which also exist
Beyond the walls of prisons
Made by your mind egoist

When did you last have a moment?
To spare listening to a bird’s chirping
In this world where every second is lent
By some deadline or projects’ timing.

When did you last hear the beating
Of your own heart with so much pain
At making for yet another meeting
In hope of getting that eluding gain

So stop, hear, look, sense and feel
Everything you took for granted
To be useless and waste like a peel
Of the fruit every one always wanted

Let’s Dream

Let’s dream of a world sans fences
Where motion had no barriers
No diversions in path and no trenches
To keep at bay the various carriers

Of joy, love, care and human touch
Flowing from soul to soul freely
Not only when need arose as such
But as if by gravity pulling gaily

A world where happiness is contagious
Enough to spread by a single smile
To even a person highly tenacious
In being sorrowful mile after mile

A world where giving is valued
Above par with aimless accretion
Of the junk which gets glued
In search of that vanity accreditation

A world favouring generosity
Towards every deserving soul
Without calling it charity
For achieving some great goal

A world where expression is free
On all matters that affect the masses
Bringing in sorrow reducing the glee
Of the person over whom it passes

Let’s strive to create this world in here
Where we sleep, wake, loose, win, live, and die
And if it needs a conscience much more clear
Then at least dream of it until we begin to hie.

No need of Words

Words are never needed
In a world where love is felt
And emotions are heeded
Like snow which could melt

Words are for the weak
Negating the power divine
Which needs no one to speak
Out feelings yours or mine

True love flows like water
Down the plains on its own
To the rightful quarter
Where it’s coming was known

For love creates its own maze
And makes its own puzzles
Woven through its blissful haze
Spreading down its glorious aisles

Testing all but the true spirited
With a pure heart and clear vision
Of the path since long lighted
By an inner strength in every season

If it need be spoken then
It would be forcing its way
Into some secluded den
Even if on Valentine’s Day
